John Maarschalk is a freelance photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. He has a unique ability to capture “the moment” whether it be the change of light amidst a Botswana sunset or the subtlety of a person’s life-long expressions.
John’s extraordinary ability betrays his passion for wildlife and the beauties of nature which most of us tend to overlook. His landscape and seascape images reflect his love for these surroundings as well as his incredible photographic diversity.
In 2009 Orient Express Safaris discovered John’s immeasurable talent and sponsored successive ventures to Botswana’s prime tourist lodges: Eagle Island Lodge, Savuti Elephant Camp and Khwai River Lodge which are the primary sources of many of the images on his website. They have used his images to produce a beautiful brochure called Journeys in Botswana & South Africa.
